Training Schedule - Sessions start at 6:00 PM with a group Pot Luck supper at 5:30 PM.
February 15 - Requirements, ground rules, handouts,
capstones, volunteer service and sponsoring organizations.
February 22 - More on a naturalist, birds, tools,
nature journaling, Sand County Almanac.
March 1 - Basic ecological concepts, river and
stream ecosystems and fish ID.
March 8 - Hunting, fishing, trapping as resource
management and types of enforcement required; explanation of glade
systems.
March 15 - No class - Spring break.
March 22 - Missouri landscapes and eco-regions.
March 27 - Field Session - Crowder
March 29 - Karst topography, key issues in SW
Missouri, agriculture, groundwater, urbanization, water quality,
exotic plants and animals, pesticides/ herbicides/ and habitat
fragmentation.
April 5 - Aquatic critters/river critters and the
effects of urbanization.
April 10 - Field Session - Morning - Stream Team
Sampling, Afternoon - Audubon/Chert Glade Tour.
April 12 - Prairie grasslands ecosystem, history of management programs, capstone projects.
April 19 - Mammals, skulls, and nuisance animals.
April 24 - Field Session - Prairie State Park
April 26 - Amphibians and reptiles, natural
resource education and interpretation, volunteer services and
capstone projects.
May 3 - Presentation of capstone projects and
GRADUATION!
